Sill Family Vineyards: High above Napa. Rooted in tradition. Elevated in every sense.

Atlas Peak is one of Napa Valley’s best-kept secrets—a secluded gem far removed from the bustling crowds of downtown Napa, St. Helena, Yountville, and Calistoga. Just 12 minutes above the Silverado Trail, it offers a glimpse into a quieter, more authentic Napa. Those who make the journey are rewarded with untamed natural beauty and timeless viticultural tradition—a fusion of passion and deep technical expertise that defines Atlas Peak growers.

Our vineyards sit on one of the most exceptional sites within the Atlas Peak AVA, a prestigious subregion named for Napa Valley’s highest elevations. Here, dramatic topography and well-drained volcanic soils create ideal conditions for producing wines of depth, elegance, and distinction.

At 1,450 feet above sea level, our vines thrive on a tranquil plateau where crisp mountain air, pure rainfall, and minimal human impact foster a truly pristine environment. Shielded from coastal fog by the Mayacamas Mountains, our west-facing slopes enjoy long hours of sunlight and cool, restorative nights. This rare microclimate strikes a perfect balance between ripeness and acidity, allowing us to craft wines of both power and finesse.

Above the fog line, the advantages are profound: cooling breezes from San Francisco Bay moderate summer heat, extend the growing season, and encourage exceptional complexity in our fruit. These high-altitude conditions help preserve structure, freshness, and the vibrant character of our grapes.

Equally essential is our use of wild indigenous yeast during fermentation. This living expression of terroir—carried by the wind, bees, birds, and insects—naturally adheres to the grape skins, initiating a spontaneous fermentation as authentic and intricate as the land itself. Every vintage becomes a snapshot of our environment, shaped by soil, sunlight, and the invisible web of life surrounding our vines.

On clear days, the view from our vineyards is nothing short of breathtaking: a rolling patchwork of Napa Valley, hot air balloons drifting gracefully above the vines, the shimmer of San Francisco Bay, and even the distant outlines of Mt. Tamalpais and Mt. Diablo. It's a vivid reminder that while our roots run deep in the earth, we are part of a grander, awe-inspiring vista.
